On Monday, December 10, the Alabama Middle District hosted a field trip visit by a group from the Seth Johnson Elementary School. The boys toured the US Marshal’s facility, spent time in our historic 2FMJ courtroom with Judge Thompson and several court personnel, and then enjoyed lunch with the same in the Johnson Library.
In the courtroom, the students learned how court sessions operate. They met with the US Marshal, some of his deputies, a courtroom reporter, the US Attorney, and with Judge Thompson and his staff. They spent some time discussing some of the civil rights history that occurred in the very seats the children were sitting in. Lunch was then provided for all, and the students had the opportunity to spend casual time with the presenters, before returning to school.
