Arriving at the Courthouse

The Alabama Middle District has three courthouse locations — in Montgomery, Opelika, and Dothan. Jurors are assigned based on their place of residence and proximity to each courthouse.

What to bring when reporting for Jury Duty

  • Your jury summons (top portion)
  • A valid photo ID — required upon entry
  • Books, magazines, or other quiet activities — there may be waiting time before selection
  • A sweater or light jacket — courtrooms tend to be cool.

Be Prepared to Show Photo ID

A valid photo ID is required and must be presented upon arrival at any of our courthouse locations. Please make sure you have it with you when you leave home.

Security Screening

All visitors must pass through security before entering the courthouse. Due to federal courthouse security requirements, please be prepared for the following:

  • You will pass through a metal detector.
  • Your bags, purses, and personal belongings will be X-rayed.
  • Cell phones, cameras and recording devices are not allowed in the courtroom or anywhere in the courthouse. Please leave those items in your car or at home.
