Chad W. Bryan was sworn in as a United States Magistrate Judge for the Middle District of Alabama on July 14, 2022. He is a native of Brantley, Alabama.
Before appointment to the bench, Judge Bryan spent his legal career as a civil litigation attorney and shareholder at the law firm of Capell & Howard P.C. in Montgomery, Alabama, where he represented clients at both the trial and appellate levels. During his 19 years in private practice, Judge Bryan was named a Mid-South Super Lawyers “Rising Star”— a designation afforded to only 2.5% of lawyers in the state of Alabama who are under 40 years of age—and was recognized for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America.
Judge Bryan received an undergraduate degree in history and English from the University of Alabama, summa cum laude, and a Juris Doctorate, summa cum laude, from The University of Alabama School of Law. He also is a graduate of the Alabama State Bar Leadership Forum and a participant in the Alabama Leadership Initiative.
Recognizing the value of community service, Judge Bryan is an active member and past president of the Montgomery Lions Club and served on the Judicial Advisory Committee for the Middle District of Alabama.
