Juror Scams Continue
The Middle District of Alabama has received calls from several citizens this week reporting calls from bad actors posing as law enforcement. Common elements of the calls appear to be the use of a real name of a US Marshal official, citing a badge number, summons number and/or citation number, telling the citizen that they have missed jury or grand jury duty, and instructing the citizen to go to a kiosk. Some are being instructed to pay a bond at the kiosk using bitcoin. Others do not mention money at all but most have threatened the citizen with being arrested if they do not comply. The Middle District of Alabama will never contact you by phone or any other method to threaten you with arrest or ask you for money. If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately. These calls are being reported to law enforcement.
