Alabama Middle District Spends Week Recording Oral Histories
During the week of February 28th – March 4th, the Alabama Middle District welcomed judges, attorneys, and Alabama natives to participate in our growing repository of Oral History recordings. This session included taking the oral histories of Judge Charles Coody, Magistrate Judge in the Middle District of Alabama, Louis Franklin, former U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama, Judge U.W. Clemon, Retired Judge of the Northern District of Alabama, and Dr. Valda Montgomery, daughter of the Richard Harris Home, a home located here in Montgomery, Alabama, that was used as a haven and meeting place during the Civil Rights Movement.
The Middle District of Alabama has played an intricate part in the state’s history. It is imperative that we continue to collect, preserve, and present the history and stories of those who have contributed. To expand the Middle District’s current Oral History Website, we are currently working on building a robust collection of information, articles, photos, videos and more about each of the profiles on our public website. The Oral History videos recorded during this week will be featured as a part of that expansion.
