Judge Huffaker's Annual Food Bank Day
The Heart of Alabama Food Bank serves as a central hub for collecting and distributing food to various pantries and community organizations across the state. Founded in 1986, its mission is to source, acquire, and deliver nutritious food to individuals facing hunger and food insecurity, ensuring that families, seniors, and children can thrive. The Food Bank directly supports 12 counties, collaborating with over 200 partner agencies, while also providing food to an additional 23 counties through its affiliation with other Food Banks.
Judge Huffaker and his staff volunteered by boxing food to be distributed to neighbors in need during their annual Food Bank Day on Tuesday, December 2. The USmDA Packers packed boxes of pork, chicken, and beef. In just two hours, they packed 351 boxes, each containing 20 pounds of meat, totaling 7,000 pounds, which will provide 5,850 meals to those in need.
