Judge Adams Returns to Western Michigan University to Encourage Graduates

United States Magistrate Judge Jerusha Adams had the honor of serving as the keynote speaker for Western Michigan University’s Lee Honors College Spring 2025 Graduation Ceremony. Held on April 25, 2025 in Kalamazoo, Judge Adams reflected on her own experiences as a Lee Honors College graduate.
Judge Adams credits much of her success to Western Michigan. Her time as an honors student launched an impressive career journey. Judge Adams went from a law student exploring differ ent professions to a judicial clerk in the federal court system to the U.S. Attorney’s Office to being the only person of color as a partner in a private law firm to her current position as a United States Magistrate Judge.
For this inspiring career path, Judge Adams expressed her thanks to Lee Honors College student for the knowledge she gained, encouragement she received, and relationships she built. Through her testimony, Judge Adams offered the graduates words of motivation and inspiration as they embark on their own post-collegiate journey.
