The Investiture Ceremony for Emily Coody Marks as United States District Judge for the Middle District of Alabama was held on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the ceremonial courtroom, 2F, of the Frank M. Johnson Jr Federal Building and United States Courthouse, Montgomery, Alabama.

Judge Marks was born in Tuscaloosa in 1973. She is a graduate of Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School in Montgomery, and graduated magna cum laude from Spring Hill College in Mobile. She graduated in 1998 from the University of Alabama School of Law, where she was chair of the John A. Campbell Moot Court Board and senior editor of the University of Alabama Law & Psychology Review. She was a partner in the Montgomery, Alabama office of Ball, Ball, Matthews & Novak where she practiced from 1998 until she was nominated by President Donald J. Trump, confirmed by the Senate, and commissioned as a United States District Judge on August 3, 2018.
