Judge Kelly Fitzgerald Pate was sworn in as a Magistrate Judge for the Middle District of Alabama on September 8, 2020.
Judge Pate completed her undergraduate studies at The University of Alabama, and she graduated law school, with the magna cum laude distinction, from Cumberland School of Law. She was Symposium Editor of the Cumberland Law Review and President of the Student Bar Association.
Judge Pate is a native of Montgomery, Alabama, where she had a civil litigation practice for 15 years. Judge Pate’s practice included a specialty in employment law. During her practice, she was involved in civic engagements in the community, served as Director of the Middle District of Alabama Pro Se Assistance Program, and completed the Alabama State Bar Leadership Forum. Judge Pate is a past president of the Montgomery Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, and she served in sections and committees of the national Federal Bar Association.
Judge Pate and her husband enjoy raising their three boys.
