On Friday, March 18th, 2022, the Alabama Middle District welcomed students from the Auburn University Mock Trial team. Auburn University's Department of Political Science, along with the Dean of the Department of Liberal Arts, hosts and sponsors the team, which travels across the nation to compete in mock trial tournaments under the American Mock Trial Association.

Senior District Judge Myron H. Thompson joined the students for lunch on the balcony of the Frank M. Johnson Courtroom where he discussed some of the many historic events that took place in that courtroom, where he now presides. Judge Thompson also discussed his journey to the bench and empowered the students to be their authentic selves in everything that they do.
Benjamin Gunning, one of Judge Thompson’s clerks, provided the group with some insight about his personal law school experience and advice for anyone interested in the legal field. Thomas Rains, executive director for The Judge Frank M. Johnson Institute, provided the group with an overview of the legacy and impact that Judge Johnson had on America.

The Auburn University Mock Trial Team is led by Debra Armstrong-Wright. To learn more about the team, please check their website- https://aumocktrial.com/.
